Reply to YouTube comments in your voice: 4 steps for 2026

Four steps: one queue for YouTube videos and Shorts, AI drafts from past replies, batch approval. Our pick is BetterSocials, $29 a month for 4 accounts.

To reply to YouTube comments at scale in your own voice, put every video and Short comment in one queue, let AI draft each reply from your past replies, and approve the drafts in batches. BetterSocials is our pick for creators and local businesses who also answer Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, from $29 a month for four accounts. CommentShark fits a channel that lives on YouTube alone.

How we built this how-to

YouTube is the platform here. You get four numbered steps you can follow in one sitting, and each names the setting or button you'll click, so you can check our work inside the tool.

Our sample is seven comment tools: BetterSocials, CommentShark, Buffer, Metricool, Hootsuite, Sprout Social and Agorapulse. BetterSocials's product facts come from its help center and plan notes, checked on 27 October 2026. Unless another month is named, rival prices are what each vendor's own page listed in October 2026.

The four steps:

  1. Choose the tool that will hold your YouTube comments.
  2. Teach the AI how you write.
  3. Work Shorts and long videos from one list.
  4. Approve drafts in batches and let the easy ones send.

Step 1: choose the tool that will hold your YouTube comments

If your comments come from more than YouTube, BetterSocials is the tool we'd start with. It's an AI social media manager that puts YouTube video and Shorts comments in one inbox with your Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads and LinkedIn Company Page comments. Creator costs $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for four accounts and one login, with every reply drafted in your voice.

CommentShark is the pick for a channel that lives on YouTube alone. Its September 2026 pricing gave the free tier 20 actions a month with template replies, and AI replies start on its $19 Starter plan. CommentShark's AI is trained on your past replies and sends drafts to an approval queue.

Buffer costs less at the same account count. Six channels on Buffer Essentials run $30 a month on annual billing, against $39 a month billed yearly for six accounts on BetterSocials Pro. Buffer's Community inbox reads YouTube comments. Comments only, though. DMs stay in each app.

The extra money buys DMs in the same inbox as your comments, and BetterSocials also drafts replies in your voice and runs keyword comment-to-DM.

Metricool reads YouTube comments too, even on the free tier (checked in August 2026), which suits a creator who wants them in one place without paying yet.

Hootsuite and Sprout Social price their inboxes for teams. Hootsuite's inbox starts on Standard at $99 per user a month and Sprout Social's on Standard at $199 per seat a month, both billed annually. Hootsuite's inbox didn't include YouTube comments when we read its page in July 2026.

Agorapulse runs $79 per user a month on annual billing (a July 2026 price), and like Hootsuite it's aimed at teams rather than one person.

The table uses the prices above, with BetterSocials on its Creator plan.

CommentShark and BetterSocials both learn your voice from your own replies. They split on coverage. CommentShark stays on YouTube, and BetterSocials adds the other platforms and their DMs.

Step 2: teach the AI how you write

CommentShark trains its AI on your past replies, and BetterSocials writes YouTube replies in your voice the same way, from replies you've already written. A voice profile is the AI's summary of how you write, built from your own replies.

In BetterSocials, open Settings, then AI voice. Paste a handful of replies you've written into the Your voice box, or describe your tone in plain words. Once you've sent a few replies of your own, a What it's learned panel shows the profile, and it keeps updating as you reply.

Facts go in Rules, just above the voice box. An AI rule is a plain sentence the AI follows on every draft, such as "never quote prices, send people to the booking link."

When your rules don't cover what someone asked, the AI doesn't guess. The comment waits for you in Needs reply.

Every AI reply passes a filter before it can send: banned phrases, length caps, and links stripped where platforms punish them. Links you wrote into your own rules, like a booking link, are kept. The AI reads the video and the comment before it drafts, so the reply fits the clip it sits under.

Step 3: work Shorts and long videos from one list

YouTube videos and Shorts feed their comments into the same BetterSocials Inbox, so you work one list instead of opening each upload. Connect the channel from Connected Accounts in the sidebar and sign in on YouTube's own screen. It takes under a minute, and your password never touches BetterSocials.

The Inbox splits into Needs reply and Replied, with tags, leads and an archive. Every new comment gets a tag when it arrives: Lead for questions about price, booking or availability, plus Spam, Support, Comment to DM or Archived. Lead tagging is free and on by default, and a new lead sends a push notification to your phone.

You can connect several YouTube channels, up to your plan's account count, and each runs its own keywords. If YouTube is your only channel and the pile is small, YouTube Studio, YouTube's own dashboard, is the free place to start.

Plan around one limit. BetterSocials automation covers recent and active videos, and comments on older uploads surface for you to answer by hand, and AI assist drafts one in your voice when you click it.

Step 4: approve drafts in batches and let the easy ones send

BetterSocials has three settings for comment replies: Off, Draft for me and Reply in my voice. Off means you write every reply, with AI assist on hand when you click it. Draft for me writes a draft for each new comment the moment it lands, and nothing posts until you approve it.

With Draft for me, you can send comment drafts one at a time from Needs reply, or clear the list with Approve in bulk.

Run it that way until the drafts sound like you.

Reply in my voice answers everyday comments, such as compliments and feedback, 1 to 5 minutes after they land. Questions still wait in Needs reply unless you turn on Answer questions too. That switch only turns on after you've written at least one AI rule, so the AI answers from your facts.

Each AI reply or draft uses one AI credit. Spam is skipped. Creator includes 1,000 AI credits a month, and when they run out the AI pauses and never charges more. Your audience sees an automated-reply disclosure only if you switch it on, in the Account section of Settings.

Why a YouTube keyword reply stays public

YouTube has no DM API, so no tool, BetterSocials included, can send a private message from a YouTube comment. A keyword automation is a word you pick, such as GUIDE, that triggers a reply when someone comments it. On YouTube, that reply posts in public under the comment, with your link in it.

In BetterSocials, you set one up under Comment to DM with New keyword link: the accounts, the word, the public reply, the DM and a switch for AI replies. Capitals don't matter. On Instagram and Facebook, the same keyword posts the public reply and sends the person a DM with the link.

TikTok, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages work like YouTube, so the link rides the public reply there too. Write your YouTube calls to action around a reply people can read under the video.

FAQ

Can AI reply to YouTube comments automatically?

Yes. In BetterSocials, Reply in my voice answers everyday YouTube comments, such as compliments and feedback, 1 to 5 minutes after they arrive. Questions wait in Needs reply for your approval unless you turn on Answer questions too, which works only after you've written at least one AI rule.

Will AI replies to my YouTube comments sound like me?

Yes, when the tool learns from your own replies. BetterSocials builds a voice profile from replies you paste into Settings, then AI voice, and from the replies you send. Its What it's learned panel shows that profile and keeps updating as you reply.

Can I approve AI replies to YouTube comments in bulk?

Yes. With Draft for me on, BetterSocials drafts a reply in your voice for every new comment, and nothing posts until you approve it. You can send drafts one at a time from Needs reply, or all together with Approve in bulk.

No. YouTube has no DM API, so no tool can send a private message from a YouTube comment. In BetterSocials, a YouTube keyword posts a public reply with your link, and on Instagram and Facebook the same keyword sends a DM.

How much does it cost to reply to YouTube comments with AI?

BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for four accounts and 1,000 AI credits a month. Each AI reply or draft uses one credit, and spam is skipped. When credits run out, the AI pauses and never bills more.

Does BetterSocials reply to comments on old YouTube videos?

Partly. BetterSocials automation covers recent and active videos. Comments on older uploads surface in the Inbox for you to answer by hand, and AI assist drafts a reply in your voice when you click it.
